It Can Kill You; Stay Away From It -Dr. Frank Awuah Tells Ghanaians
Interestingly, a Ghanaian Doctor has cautioned citizens to avoid self medical prescription as that could be dangerous to their health, to an extent of taking their lives.
He made this known while speaking on the rise of tuberculosis disease that has started ravaging the Country.
Dr. Frank Awuah also known as Dr Abodwese 1, who is in charge of Ayaresawura Herbal Clinic has admonished the public to take the tuberculosis disease very serious and pay massive attention to it.
According to him the disease is contagious or communicable and easily spread from person to person through coughing, speaking, sneezing or singing and is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
He explained that some can have the disease but do not show symptoms and they are called carriers, they do not spread the disease but later in their lives develop the TB disease.
However the TB disease patients spread the tuberculosis and it is known that one third of the world population contract the bacterium through diagnostic techniques such as acid fast straining (Zelnelson staining method).
About thirty thousand new cases are recorded each year in Ghana and fifteen thousand people die of the disease.
In an interview with Nana Kwadwo Asempa on Yonkopa fm kaseaboso, He added that it is prudent to consult a Doctor or visit a nearby hospital with an complains for proper diagnoses other than buying any medicine from drugstore which will lead to drug resistant bacterium making treatment difficult and later complicate issues of the lungs and the entire body he said.
