The letter read; “The Ministry of Education has advised this Office that the exigencies that needed your abilities and competence as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service no longer exist.”

Despite being appointed in April 2017, explicit mention was made of Prof. Opoku-secondment Amankwa’s from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in January 2021. (KNUST).

The contract was renewed again in June 2021, but this time it was in “contravention of the Human Resource Policy Frame and manual of the Public Services Commission as it pretends to extend your secondment beyond the 3-year maximum limit,” according to the letter.

Professor Opoku-Amankwa has been directed to return to KNUST.

“The President appreciates you for your service to the nation and wishes you all the best in your future endeavors,” the Presidency ended in a letter written by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

The Vice President, Chief of Staff, the Minister of Education, the Board Chairperson of the Ghana Education Service, the Vice Chancellor of KNUST, and the Registrar of the same institution are all copied in the letter
