Immediate Release:Delayed Ghana Education Service (GES) Posting Of Trained And Qualified Teachers And Its Consequencies

We urgently write to address a pressing concern on the prolonged delay in the posting of newly qualified teachers and the adverse effects it has caused overtime.

Despite completing their requisite four years of mandatory study in College, diligently serving the nation for a year through National Service, and successfully passing the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), newly qualified teachers continue to await the GES posting. However, Teacher Trainees from the Colleges of Education had always had their postings immediately after National Service but this year’s has delayed for over five months which is quite unusual.

The impact of this delay has implications on these individuals as it undermines the morale and motivation of these teachers who have invested significant time and effort in acquiring the necessary qualification. We believe that, this also engenders anxiety and financial strain among them.
Given the urgency and significance of this matter, we respectfully request immediate action from the Government of the Republic of Ghana, Ministry of Finance (MOF), Ministry of Education (MOE) and all other relevant Stakeholders who matter in expediting action in the posting process for newly qualified teachers.

Based on the delay experienced thus far, TTAG anticipates that the MOE and the GES initiates the opening of the portal for qualified teachers and release postings by next month. This action is crucial to prevent additional reactions from the unemployed trained teachers’ community, who are increasingly frustrated by the prolonged waiting period.
Conclusively, we urge the MOE to provide transparent communication and regular updates regarding the status of postings and measures being taken to address this issue effectively.
